Why Use SWIMM ?

We are financial advisers who don’t sell our own reverse mortgage product. We offer financial advice to the over 60’s who believe they might need one. As we don’t have a reverse mortgage product we are not pressured to push you into a product that may not be suited to your circumstance.

Why use a financial adviser?

You could apply direct to a reverse mortgage provider or use a mortgage broker to apply for a reverse mortgage, however there are various Centrelink benefits, tax and financial implications involved in taking out a reverse mortgage.

If drawdown inappropriately it may effect your pension, erode the equity in your property unnecessarily and or effect your future capability of obtaining an accommodation bond for an aged care facility

We offer you our expertise and financial advice to negotiate these pitfalls for no additional cost

In fact we have accredited mortgage brokers who will apply for the reverse mortgage through SWIMM as they also recognise the importance of getting the right financial advice when applying for these types of loans.

Isn’t it cheaper if I go direct?

No. We are assured by the reverse mortgage product providers that there is no additional cost or loss of benefits by applying through SWIMM or one of our accredited mortgage brokers.

You get the added benefit of financial advice from a licensed financial adviser with no additional cost.

In fact most SEQUAL member reverse mortgage product providers stipulate that you must get financial advice to apply for their loan - which will be at an additional cost to you.

We are paid a commission by the reverse mortgage provider you obtain the loan from, which we share with accredited mortgage brokers and this is disclosed in our Statement of Advice (SOA) we prepare for you.
